Progress on Previous (Awarded) Submissions

Previous awarded project

Pretium Finance - 10K USD

Deliverables of previous awarded submission

1/ Our first deliverable was to design mockup layouts for Stellar integration, implement on our platform, perform internal review and collect feedback. We created mockups designed to guide us during the implementation phase and can be accessed at integration designs. Guided by mockup designs we have implemented within our web application. To access the implementation: Sign up - Pretium.Finance

2/  Our second deliverable was to create backend APIs that enable creation of Stellar account, can accept and send XLM or USDC, capability to establish trustline and link them with our cross-border and utility services protocol. We have created our backend APIs to enable functions such  as account creation, making payment, issuing assets on the network and establishing trustlines. Additionally, our users are able to pay for utility services or make cross-border payments using Stellar USDC. To access the implementation: Sign up - Pretium.Finance

3/ Lastly, we were to perform an internal audit for maximum protection of APIs. We have put together an audit report and proposal here.

Product & Architecture

Overview

Overall we’re a payment platform that empowers individuals and businesses to accept cross-border payments across Africa and enables crypto holders to pay for utility services and settle bills using cryptocurrencies. We are in operation in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa.

On this project, we are developing a stablecoin-funded virtual debit card designed to facilitate online shopping, manage recurring subscription services, and handle other bill payments not currently supported by local payments integrations we have done in countries in operation.

Problem

The African ecosystem is ripe for disruption by blockchain technology. However, a major barrier to widespread adoption is its limited integration into the financial value chain such as the banking infrastructure, making it difficult to use for everyday purchases.

To further ease online payments and make it easier for our end users to settle bills using stablecoins, we aim to integrate the Pretium wallet, with a card processor and the Stellar blockchain network to allow users to spend their stablecoins via a virtual debit card to pay for their utility bills as well as settle their day to day purchases. This initiative enables users to easily make international online purchases, pay for subscriptions, and more.

By offering more payment options for our end users and introducing a new way to spend stablecoins within the Stellar ecosystem, we are enhancing trust and encouraging the acquisition and mass adoption of Stellar assets within the continent. In addition, this product is in line with our vision which is to simplify and revolutionize payments by integrating crypto payments into the everyday financial exchanges further blurring the lines between the mainstream financial systems and crypto assets.
