Product & Architecture

Gender gap in Sub Saharan African countries lists Nigeria with the biggest gap Global Findex IFC WorldGap 2017. 33% of women in Nigeria are financial excluded and have no digital ID or financial history. Other women who trade keep money via traditional means such as keeping at home or with friends and relatives which leaves them at risk of domestic and finacial abuse.

Recognising the barriers that women with limited digital literacy have in accessing financial products, Haven uses blockchain to enable unbanked women (between the ages of 18 to 45) to create a financial history that can be shared with financial instituitions (meet eligibility requirementsand) access microfinance to trade. Blockchain facilitates the creation of an accessible and open financial system which empowers women excluded from digital financial system.  Haven addresses gender equality, UNSG 5 by bridging the digital divide, making financial services available whereever they are and whenever they require access.
